Daniela De Lorenzo and Addo Lodovico Trinci: De Lorenzo / Trinci

Friday, April 9, 1999 e/static inaugurates in via Parma 3, Turin, its first ever exhibition. This is an original project, specially designed for the large exhibition space and created together with Daniela De Lorenzo and Addo Lodovico Trinci. After an initial inspection of the place, which took place last December 1998, the two Tuscan artists (De Lorenzo from Florence, Trinci from Pistoia) invited by the artistic director, Carlo Fossati, intensively collaborated for a few months and finally came up with the creation of a very rigorous staging based on some works in felt by De Lorenzo and a structure in polished brass designed by Trinci. In practice, the former intervened in the air of the place by hanging four felt sculptures from the ceiling (two of which form a group), all of them resting on the floor, to indicate the verticality, even if tortuous. Instead, Trinci used only the floor, placing a complex structure based on his preferred figure, the hexagon (also referring to a chemical structure, and to beehives), as well as a sort of luminous echo, again hexagonal in shape, made by the projection of a theater spotlight onto the floor.
With this first exhibition project, original and site specific, being conceived specifically for the space, the intentions of its artistic director are to immediately establish what the fundamental attitude of e/static is, which shall be confirmed - always in new forms, and by expanding the range of action with the proposal of other artists - in the projects that will follow.
